The AdDIE Lab at The University of Alabama designs and studies immersive, inclusive, analytics-rich learning environments that adapt to how learners engage, collaborate, and develop knowledge.

Mission

Designing learning environments that see more of the learner.

AdDIE Lab conducts immersive learning research and development examining how to promote students' learning engagement and knowledge development in digital learning environments.

The work sits at the intersection of inclusive learning, immersive environments, and learning analytics, with a commitment to personalizing these environments for underrepresented learners, including learners with disabilities.

Lab Culture

Mentorship-first, collaborative, and open to new researchers.

AdDIE Lab is built for researchers who want to design inclusive, immersive, and analytics-rich learning environments with methodological care. We mentor students as co-authors and design partners, with particular attention to welcoming underrepresented researchers into rigorous, visible, and humane research practice. Lab work is ambitious, but the working culture is generous: careful feedback, shared credit, and a clear path from apprenticeship to independent scholarly contribution.
